Junior Member Louis Richards fishing at Lowbell had this Perch, fishing double red maggots 18 hook 1.7 hook length. The fish was estimated to be over 2lb by Stuart the bailiff at London Colney.

Blunham Spinney, early January 2005 saw me on peg two unable to get a bite on pole fished maggot. So, because I'd known it was going to be hard, I set up a legered herring on my pike gear. Only the second time I'd ever fished deadbait and within 10 minutes I had a ten pounder, matching my pb. Delighted, I chucked out another herring expecting nothing more and within another 10 minutes had this fish at 15lb - A new pb!! Off my face and high as a kite I packed up, replete. 6 weeks later I retunred following 5 blank piking trips elsewhere that the 15 pounder had inspired and caught the same fish again, this time weighing 14lb. Identifiable by a bad scar / infection damage on its back. Remarkable introduction to pike fishing and a memory I'll retain for ever. And the 15lb fish was a pb for only 10 short weeks....
